Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice

'It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife'.
The opening to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is one of the most famous in literary history.
This artwork, using Derivan Matisse acrylic inks, is the first in a series of book mash-ups for the 2023 SALA Festival where I will be exhibiting with Cockadoodle Stu - Artworks by Stu Nankivell. As with our previous exhibition we will be adding the fun element of augmented reality using the Artivive App
I chose to portray Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy as lions as the book is called Pride (🦁get it?) and Prejudice with this blurb inspired by Penguin Publishing:
When two rich young lions move to town, they don't go unnoticed - especially when Mrs Bennett vows to have one of her five daughters marry into their pride. But love, as Jane and Elizabeth Bennett soon discover, is rarely straightforward, and often surprising. It's only a matter of time until their own small worlds are turned upside down and they discover that first impressions can be the most misleading of all.
